Krista Colleagues, spouses, and children are welcome!

The Krista Foundation for Global Citizenship 2014 Service Leadership Conference explores the theme “Going Public: Complex Faith within a Complex World”. A variety of intergenerational leaders will help us wrestle with the meaning and value of Christian faith with in a world facing stark economic disparity, complex religious dynamics, and polarizing difference. Together we’ll address the challenges of living out faith in daily life and claiming the sustaining strength of Christian practice.

Our featured speaker, The Rev. Joan Harrell, brings a career in public media, as an award-winning broadcast journalist and producer, including work with the CBS News Bureau and C-SPAN in Washington DC, and with the ABC News Bureau in London. As an ordained Baptist pastor and Director of Public Communications for Trinity United Church of Christ, Chicago, Joan helps members claim their faith voice and express it through their work and ministry, including Empowering Voices, a syndicated weekly podcast series.

Her scholarly investigation is "How Does the Intersecting of Media, Race, Religion, Alterity and Xenophobic Constructs Perpetuate Oppression in the Public Square?"

Featured presenters, Krista Colleagues, and mentors will guide workshops and group sessions to further explore how to go public.

Come and reconnect with old friends, make new ones, be encouraged, and encourage others as we continue to learn what it means to be a Global Citizen!
